Butler Family Hesburgh Libraries Endowment

The Butler Family Hesburgh Libraries Endowment was established in 2007 by Nancy Oare Butler. Nancy is a longstanding member of the Sorin Society.

As Notre Dame ascends in rankings among its peers, the Butler Family Endowment supports this climb to excellence by enabling the provision of the resources, programs, and services that undergird the academic enterprise at the University. It has made possible state-of-the-art training of library personnel; the acquisition of seminal resources, such as The Chronicle of Higher Education online; and books critical to academic inquiry at all levels.

Libraries are at the forefront of transformative changes in how universities produce, disseminate, and collaborate on new forms of research and scholarship. More than ever, it is critical that the Hesburgh Libraries are closely attuned to new developments in the profession and involved in shaping a shared vision for the future of libraries. The Butler Family Hesburgh Libraries Endowment supports these important connections, helping to fund institutional and individual memberships in organizations such as the Association of Research Libraries, the Center for Research Libraries, OCLC Research Partners, and the American Library Association.
