Louis M. and Jane G. Haley Endowed Collection in Science and Science Technology

The Louis M. and Jane G. Haley Family Endowed Collection in Science and Science Technology, a gift from Jane and family, was established in 2006. It supports research in science technology, with a focus on the medical field. Louis (’50) graduated from the College of Science and their sons, John R. (’83) and Peter G. (’78), from the College of Arts and Letters.

The late Dr. Haley served in the United States Navy, before attending Notre Dame. He then attended The Ohio State University Medical School (’54). He went on to be a family practitioner at Dell Park Medical Center and served as the chief of staff at Kettering Medical Center.

As the cost of resources continues to rise, the Haley Family Endowment continues to play an important role in developing a strong collection in the biological and biomedical sciences. It funds subscriptions to such journals as Diabetes, Fly, Biology Letters, the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology, and the British Medical Journal, which continue to be essential in the University’s work.

Faculty, graduate students, and undergraduate majors of the Department of Biological Sciences need to keep up on research being conducted around the world, in real time, and need to share the amazing things happening in our laboratories.
