The Lynn and Brian D. Kilb (’80) Endowed Library Collection in Social Sciences, with a special emphasis on journalism, was established in 2007 in honor of John McCullough (’55) and his wife Sandra. John’s illustrious 50-year news career began at WNDU in South Bend and continued at WTMJ in Milwaukee, where he met Lynn Kilb, her husband Brian (’80), and their children Mackenzie (’11) and Sheila.

At Notre Dame, Sandra and John McCullough Scholarships have supported students pursuing careers in public affairs journalism, elected office or government agencies, and the McCullough Lecture in Responsible Journalism and Government has provided a series of on-campus speeches to promote the understanding of journalistic and governmental work as a form of public service. The library collection is a natural extension of the McCulloughs’ commitment to quality journalism and civil public discourse.
