Rivco Foundation Library Collection in Engineering

The Rivco Foundation Library Collection in Engineering was established in 1984, in memory of John A. Morrissey. In 1920, John founded the Chicago Rivet and Machine Co., a manufacturer of rivets, automatics rivet setting machines, tools, and parts. His sons are both Notre Dame graduates: John Jr. (’58) and Walter (’64).

As the Notre Dame College of Engineering experiences extraordinary growth in the numbers of faculty and students, additional research materials are required. Through funding from this endowment, such acquisitions as e-books in computer science, earth science, and energy are possible. The collection is designated for the purchase of general engineering materials. Advancements in research, such as those taking place at the Center for Sustainable Energy at Notre Dame (cSEND), address the global challenges of creating a more sustainable energy future. These rely on the research infrastructure that the Libraries continue to build, thanks to funding from this endowment.

The Morrissey family has also supported the Anne W. Morrissey Family Scholarship.
