Ted and Marie Majerek Family Periodicals Program

The Ted and Marie Majerek Family Periodicals Program was established in 1993 by Notre Dame parents Ted and Marie Majerek. Ted has been a leading entrepreneur in Michigan with his primary businesses, Michiana News Service, the Majerek Card Shops, and several bookstores. Marie owns the Michiana Antique Mall and plays a prominent role in the revitalization of downtown Niles. Ted and Marie are the proud parents of eight children, two of whom are Notre Dame graduates.

For many years the Majerek family has made available to the Notre Dame community a very special gift: access to general-interest periodicals, often in close proximity to where scholars do their principal work. The Majerek Program supports the acquisition, reconditioning, and revitalization of periodical literature at the Hesburgh Libraries. Recently, the fund has helped renovate the Current Periodicals Room through new lighting, furnishings, remodeling, and cutting edge technology, making this space much more inviting and flexible. Additionally, the endowment has supported the new Byzantine Studies Reading Room in the Medieval Institute, a permanent home for a prestigious collection and a focal point for scholars in Byzantine Studies and the Classics.
