Wolnitzek Library Endowment
The Wolnitzek Library Endowment was established in 1998 by Stephen D. Wolnitzek (’70) and his mother, Ruth. Though Steve’s parents’ education stopped short of high school graduation, they were selflessly devoted to their children’s education. Steve graduated from Notre Dame cum laude, went on to earn his doctor of laws degree at the University of Cincinnati and is now the president of Wolnitzek and Rowekamp, PSC. He is the chair of the Judicial Conduct Commission of Kentucky and was named a distinguished lawyer by the Northern Kentucky Bar Association. He and his wife, Katie, are members of the Badin Guild and the Order of St. Thomas More. They have two sons: Marcus (’00) and Justin.
The Wolnitzek Endowment supports the building of library collections, programs, and services, and allows faculty and staff to remain adept in cutting-edge methodologies of library and information science. It also aids digitization and collaborative resource sharing, and ensures that library services remain an interactive, integral part of learning, teaching, and all other scholarly pursuits undertaken at Notre Dame. Two other items of note that have been acquired through general library endowment funds are a subscription to Jane’s Sentinel Country Risk Assessment, a product including more than 200 reports on U.N. recognized countries, territories, and commonwealths, and the Joint Publications Research Service Reports, 1957-1994, which is an archive of intelligence-related scientific, technical, and social science materials.
