Foxen Family Endowed Collection for the Humanities

The Foxen Family Endowed Collection for the Humanities was established in 2005 in memoriam of family members John and Annie Kelley Foxen, Catharine, George J. (’34), John, and Helen. It was started by Patrick (’64) and Ann Foxen Kenny, who have two daughters, Maura (’95) and Cassandra. Pat serves on the Hesburgh Libraries Advisory Council. Pat and Ann also established the Mary E. Kenny Library Collection in Medieval Studies, in honor of Pat’s mother.

The humanities are comprised of a wide and varied range of disciplines, from literature to religion. The Foxen Endowment is a critical partner in providing funding for not only the basics, such as books and journal subscriptions, but also new technology accessible both on campus and for Notre Dame students and faculty around the world.

Recent acquisitions in the Libraries include Harper’s Weekly, Print Confidential Latin America, and Encyclopedia of Islam. The fund also helped facilitate additional monetary support for classics and film, and retrospective French fiction. A number of electronic resources were also procured, which will provide access to streaming media content, including Dance in Video, World History in Video, and Anthropology Online.
