Gregory and Susanne Hoffman Family Endowed Collection for the College of Science in Honor of Dr. and Mrs. Arthur Hoffman and Mr. and Mrs. C. Norman McCullough

The Gregory and Susanne Hoffman Family Endowed Collection for the College of Science In Honor of Dr. and Mrs. Arthur Hoffman and Mr. and Mrs. C. Norman McCullough was established in 1997 by Dr. Gregory Hoffman (’73) and his wife, Susanne, to honor their parents.

The late Dr. Arthur Hoffman (’37) who had been an anesthesiologist, was the Notre Dame Club of Fort Wayne’s Man of the Year in 1969. His wife, Mary, a registered nurse and the mother of nine children, three of whom are Notre Dame graduates, has been a devoted servant to those in need. The late Charles Norman McCullough was a veteran of World War II, and retired after 38 years of service with the Railway Express Agency. His wife Marie, also deceased, was a registered nurse.

Greg is an orthopaedic surgeon and a clinical professor in the Fort Wayne Orthopaedic Residency Program. He is a member of Notre Dame’s Science Advisory Council. Susanne is a registered nurse and long-time volunteer and officer of the Parent Teacher Association. Greg and Susanne have four children: Amanda (’03), Matthew (an Indiana University graduate), Claire (’07), and Rachel (’09).

The Hoffman Endowment continues to build the Hesburgh Libraries’ collection in the biological and biomedical sciences, offering Notre Dame scholars and faculty access to extensive resources, including and expanding number of journal subscriptions that play an essential part in the research being conducted in the University’s laboratories.

The Hoffmans have also supported the construction and resourcing of Jordan Hall of Science.
