Harry L. and Colleen M. Troy Endowed Collection in Psychology

The Harry L. and Colleen M. Troy Endowed Collection in Psychology was established by the late Harry L. (’50) and Colleen Troy. Harry owned the Troy Company Inc., a plumbing contractor serving southeastern Wisconsin. He and Colleen are survived by a son, Gary (’73), and two grandsons, one of whom is a Notre Dame graduate. At the University, Harry and Colleen were members of the Sorin Society and the Badin Guild.

At Notre Dame, the scholarly analysis of human behaviors is animated by a deep and abiding desire to serve humanity. Because of the Troy Endowment, the Hesburgh Libraries can acquire critically important reference sources and monographic works. The Libraries are able to enhance collections in cognitive psychology, an area in which resources are exceedingly expensive since many cross over into the neurological realm, and assume the astronomical costs of medical materials. The fund is also able to help meet the needs of researchers in the areas of developmental and social psychology, where supporting the growing emphasis on aging had strained the Libraries’ ability to keep up with materials on childhood and adolescence.

The Troys also established three scholarships at Notre Dame: one for students majoring in any discipline, one for business students, and one for engineering students.
