Jean Roberts and Theodore F. Twardzik Family General Library Endowment

The Jean Roberts and Theodore F. Twardzik Family General Library Endowment was established in 1996 by Theodore F. “Ted” (’51) and Jean Twardzik. Ted earned his bachelor of science in accounting degree at the University and was active in the Glee Club. Ted’s mother, Mary, made delicious pierogies, an Eastern European culinary tradition. Ted built a business on these stuffed pasta pockets—the famous Mrs. T’s® Pierogies. Mrs. T’s® Pierogies are now distributed throughout the United States and several international markets. Ted, now retired, and Jean have three sons, two of whom are graduates of Notre Dame. Family ownership of Mrs. T’s® continues through their children.

The Twardzik Family General Library Endowment enables the Hesburgh Libraries to respond quickly as new concentrations are identified by the University, and to provide the requisite support until such time that structured funding can be allocated, or in its stead. This unrestricted endowment is one of the forces that affords the Libraries the resources to be agile and supportive in times of growth and increasing economic challenges.

Ted and Jean are members of the Badin Guild and have also established the Jean Roberts and Theodore F. Twardzik Family Endowed Collection in Polish Studies.
