Mary Frances and H. Joseph Hinton Endowed Library Collection

The Mary Frances and H. Joseph Hinton Endowed Library Collection was established in 1998. It supports scholarship and research through collection development and services at the Hesburgh Libraries. Robert L. (’76), Therese (Hinton) Clay, Donna (’77), Joseph, and Michael created it to honor their parents.

The Hinton Endowment supports a myriad of scholarly work and research and encourages excellence in academics. Due to its flexibility, this Endowment is truly vital, as its funds address areas of greatest need.

As today’s academic library is an evolving structure, it emphasizes physical and virtual space for collaborative learning and study by faculty and staff. From its book collections to its online resources, the Hesburgh Libraries strive to provide a setting where individual research and contemplation can take place, as well as to be a place that provides technological interconnectivity to the outside world.

Specifically, the Hinton Endowment helps fund institutional and individual memberships in organizations such as the Association of Research Libraries, the Center for Research Libraries, OCLC Research Partners, and the American Library Association.
