R. Steven and Elizabeth A. Lutterbach Family Endowment in Film, Television, and Theatre

The R. Steven and Elizabeth Lutterbach Family Endowment in Film, Television, and Theatre was established in 1994 by Rick and Liz Lutterbach, parents of Notre Dame alumni Ryan (’98, ’00 MBA), Erin (’00), and Kristin (’08).

Rick, an alumnus of Indiana University and New York Institute of Finance, has founded and served as chairman or chief executive officer for several public and private corporations. Indiana’s governor awarded Rick the prestigious position of the “Sagamore of the Wabash,” held to be the highest distinction of honor within the state. Liz, a graduate of Indiana University and the American Academy of Art in Chicago, is an award-winning graphic artist.

The Lutterbach Endowment continues to bolster the Hesburgh Libraries’ holdings in the areas of film, television, and theatre. This fund supports the growth of Notre Dame’s microfilm collection, which now rivals the resources held by peer institutions, and enables new purchases of online collections and DVD titles. Some specific recent examples include the online collections Paley iCollection and Naxos Spoken Word and the microfilm collection Warner Brothers Screenplays. Important acquisitions, like these, allow students to pursue scholarship and research on campus, rather than traveling to access these rare items.
