Business

Business resources must be continually renewed to keep pace with rapidly expanding business curricula, teaching methodologies, and research endeavors of the Mendoza College of Business. Collection development in business supports electronic journals, databases, monographs, and other resources specifically targeted to business studies, helping the College to sustain top rankings among peer institutions year after year.

Engineering & the Sciences

New discovery creates daily changes in engineering and scientific knowledge—increasingly so in today’s digital world. Diverse collections in many formats focused in these expanding academic areas enable the Hesburgh Libraries to provide access to journals, data sets, and other state-of-the art resources critical to the research of students and faculty in the science and engineering disciplines.

Humanities

These funds strengthen the foundation for the academy’s worldwide reputation in the humanities. Notre Dame is proud of this diverse group of collections. Medieval literature and history, Irish studies, and Catholic Americana, to name just a few, are recognized among the very best in the world. Our strong print and digital collections in this area make the Libraries a true “laboratory” for humanistic studies.

Social Sciences

The social sciences encompass a broad and interdisciplinary range of academic initiatives at Notre Dame. Traditional disciplines falling in the category include cultural and area studies, anthropology, sociology, psychology, economics, and political science. Social science resources ensure an ongoing acquisition of the wealth of print and electronic resources needed to facilitate teaching, learning, and research in these important fields, which increase understanding of humankind.
